Valley of the Sun United Way, like the 1,300 other United Ways in the country, is an autonomous 501(c)(3) organization that is governed by a local all-volunteer Board of Directors. Additionally, a volunteer committee of financial experts from the community meets year-round, monitoring the organization’s financial position.

Each year, Valley of the Sun United Way is audited by a national, independent accounting firm and has consistently received an unqualified opinion letter. In addition to posting our Form 990 on our Web site for public review, Valley of the Sun United Way is an active member of the Better Business Bureau and a past recipient of its Ethics Award, which recognizes businesses for maintaining high ethical standards and accountability in their business practices.
