Hungry for Change: Community Advocate

My Story

JanssenWHO: Janssen, mom to three daughters

CITY: Gilbert

MOTTO: Children are made readers on the laps of their parents. - Emilie Buchwald

WHY I SUPPORT BREAKFAST IN THE CLASSROOM: Breakfast in the Classroom is one of those brilliant and simple ways to make life better for hungry children in Arizona. This way they don't have to feel singled out for eating breakfast in the cafeteria before school, and they don't have to choose between playing with friends and starting the day with a full stomach.

YOU KNOW ME: As a former elementary school librarian, I saw hundreds of kids in my schools every day trying to learn social and academic skills. No matter what your background, these are challenging life lessons to absorb and when you're doing it on an empty stomach, it makes every part of your education that much more difficult.

My Challenge to You: Learn More

About Child Hunger in the Valley

  • Give - Every dollar makes a difference for local kids and families.
  • Learn More - The more you know the better equipped you'll be to discuss child hunger in schools.
  • Spread the Word - Every share on social media increases awareness of this important issue.

My Community Advocate Partners

I've partnered with eight other Valley moms from Gilbert to Glendale to help spread the word. Become a passionate champion for ending hunger in local classrooms by raising your voice, too!
