Hungry for Change: Community Advocate
WHO: Wendy, mom to two kids
MOTTO: Do justice, love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. - Micah 6:8
WHY I SUPPORT BREAKFAST IN THE CLASSROOM: I fully support what Breakfast in the Classroom is trying to accomplish. These children are our future and they deserve to start their day with a full tummy so that they are ready to learn. Providing food to all the children in a school not only helps the child but the entire school and community. It also keeps the children from having to make the choice of food or recess with their friends since there is a designated breakfast time for everyone.
YOU KNOW ME: I've always had a heart and passion for helping childrens' needs. In high school, I volunteered at a youth camp for underprivileged children, then as an adult I worked with children in the foster care system through various roles as a Program Specialist, Parent Assistance Hotline Coordinator/Manager, Removal Review Team Volunteer Coordinator, and as a Parent Aide.
There is such a huge need for services for these children and their families, however, most people I talk to don't even realize there is a need.
