Bank of America

Thank you to Bank of America and its employees for their continued support of Valley of the Sun United Way in 2009. Executives at Bank of America took a leading role in educating new employees about the importance of giving back to the community and why Bank of America chooses to make Valley of the Sun United Way the only ask for financial contributions of their employees each year. Through this support, Bank of America employees see their contributions making real changes in the community they live and work in.   Employees show their support for United Way through pledges, participating in fun campaign events and by giving of their time. Countless hours of volunteering were dedicated by Bank of America employees to helping UMOM New Day Centers move into its new shelter, serving as guest guides at Project Homeless Connect events, and various other volunteer projects.  Thank you, Bank of America for all of your support!

Maricopa County Combined Federal Campaign

Local U.S. Military, Postal and Federal employees continued their tradition of outstanding national service, and generosity during the 2009 Maricopa County Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). This year’s CFC increased employee participation levels and raised $1,648,248, living up to its campaign theme of “iCan Now, More than Ever.” We cannot thank Maricopa County U.S. military, postal and federal employees enough for their generosity and service to our nation and our community.

City of Avondale

The City of Avondale celebrated an extremely successful 2009 United Way campaign with the “Live United to the EXTREME!” event for employees. This low-cost, fun-filled event featured an EXTREME Football throwing contest and EXTREME Bingo. The event was a pleasant way for employees to build community, while celebrating the campaign’s success. During the event, the city manager personally thanked the employees for the successful campaign, with employee participation increasing from 34% in 2008 to 55% in 2009 and a 27% increase in giving.  Valley of the Sun United Way extends our appreciation to City of Avondale employees for their generosity and support.
