Valley of Sun United Way Joins Thousands of Arizona State University Students to End the Cycle of Poverty in Arizona

PHOENIX (August 10, 2017) — Thousands of Arizona State University students will work with Valley of the Sun United Way on Monday to help break the cycle of poverty in Arizona through Sparky’s Day of Service.

The event, which will take place on Monday, August 14 will allow students the opportunity to better the community by participating in projects like Weekend Hunger Backpack assembly and school readiness kit creation at all three of ASU’s campuses.

“We’re looking forward to engaging college students in our mission of ending the cycle of poverty in the Valley,” said Francisco Avalos, Director of Engagement. “The support we receive from the community is instrumental in helping us better our community and by working with Arizona State University we can extend our vision to these students, helping us to make a larger impact statewide.”
