Health

We remove barriers to ensure everyone in our community is healthy, with a focus on access to food and healthcare.

GOING PLACES WITH THE GARNERS

Homebound seniors, like Martha and Louise Garner, are often forced to skip doctor visits simply because they have no way to get there. Valley of the Sun United Way is working with local nonprofit, Duet, to make sure everyone has access to healthcare. Martha and Louise have been using Duet’s services for almost a year. Volunteers drive them to and from their doctor’s appointments free-of-charge. Donating to Valley of the Sun United Way helps seniors, like Martha and Louise, live a healthy and happy life.

MC2026 GOALS

↓ 50 %
Decrease food insecurity by 50%.
↑ 100,000
Increase the number of individuals with access to affordable healthcare by 100,000.

SOLUTIONS AT WORK

Pantry Packs Program

For children with limited access to food at home, school may be the only place they can get a nutritious meal. We believe in helping kids have a better relationship with food and more focus on their education, not their hunger.

OUR HEALTH PARTNERS

Together with many partners – food banks and delivery programs, senior nutrition and outreach services, behavioral health programs, cancer support, and school health services to name a few – we are working to improve our community’s health. The below Coalition members focus on our Mighty health goals and develop strategies to create impact. When informed by the Coalition and their Action Teams, we change course as needed to stay focused on the right programs and solutions to reach our bold goals for Maricopa County.
