Tocqueville Society is a group of community leaders led by Valley of the Sun United Way that has been making big things happen in Maricopa County. What better way to celebrate a group of large impact than to host their 30th year anniversary with Victoria, the largest touring T. rex skeleton, as she made her global debut at Arizona Science Center?
Before everybody got a look at Victoria at Arizona Science Center, we enjoyed a special reception for 18 new Tocqueville Society members at Bar Bianco. New members were welcomed by the Tocqueville Society Committee and thanked for joining as they got to know the current members and enjoy local fare.
Following the reception, members celebrated a new era of impact with an exclusive look at the Victoria exhibition and spent time with United Way Board Members as they heard an update from community champions on the difference they have made possible. Among others, Brent Downs from the St. Joseph the Worker shared the transformations he sees every day at the human service campus thanks to the longstanding support of the Tocqueville Society.

Because of these members, our community has:
- Parents who are able to work with the confidence that their children are in quality childcare focused on preparing them for Kindergarten
- Kids who can concentrate at school because they are receiving breakfast in the classroom and over the weekend, as well as have a safe place to go after school and over the summer
- Military veterans who have homes, jobs and dignity after years living out on the Phoenix streets
- Seniors on a limited budget who can have both a nutritious meal and the medications they need – without needing to make a choice between the two
