April 15 is fast approaching.
It’s time to figure out taxes. Work, family, life…we are all busy, but the sooner you file, the sooner you get back what you deserve.
Get Money Back?
Most people are so worried about what they’ll owe on taxes, they don’t realize they may get something back this year.
In fact, hardworking families and individuals who earned up to $54,000 in 2015 could qualify for up to $6,200 through the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).
Do You Qualify for *Up to $6,200 in Tax Refunds?
You may. Taxpayers can apply for other tax credits they may be eligible for (but unaware of) such as the EITC. You could even qualify for free tax preparation through the Volunter Income Tax Assistance (VITA) progam.
$2 Million Returned Last Year
Last year, VITA volunteers helped about 1,340 West Valley taxpayers connect to nearly $2 million in refunds they were due. Community members reported using it for vital needs such as food, clothing, housing, affordable childcare and educational opportunities to strengthen their futures.
Don’t forget to bring:
- Social Security cards or IRS ITIN cards for all dependents
- Picture ID for taxpayer and spouse
- Proof of all income, including W-2 and 1099 forms
- Name, address and tax ID number of childcare provider
- Amount paid to childcare provider in 2013
- Account and routing numbers for direct deposit
To electronically file and get the fastest refunds, both spouses must be present to sign joint returns.
