When disaster strikes, our community rallies – and much of that strength comes from
strategic partnerships.
Our partners at Airbnb.org, for example, steps up in the face of several
weather-related disasters across our country. Here in Maricopa County, they
helped during the recent Tempe microburst, providing immediate, safe,
and free housing for neighbors displaced by the storm. By coordinating with our
local intake organizations, they helped ensure no one faced the crisis alone.
Many Airbnb hosts also offered emergency stays, and Airbnb.org collected
donations that went directly back to our community.
This is a powerful example of the difference businesses can make when they
act in the moment to meet pressing community needs. From emergency
housing to community-wide disaster response, partnerships like
these strengthen our community’s safety net when it’s most needed.
At Valley of the Sun United Way, we celebrate actions like these as part of
our 100 Acts of Impact Challenge.
We invite you to show your own impact: post your act on social media using
#100Years100Acts and #100ActsWithVSUW, and tag @myVSUW –
because every action counts, and together, we create change. For more
information on how to participate, visit vsuw.org/100acts.
