The first Project Connect of 2018 is coming up on Thursday, February 22nd at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Maryvale. If you have thought about volunteering to be a guest guide but held back due to uncertainty of how to connect with your guest, here are some tips! It may be easier than you think.
Guest guides are a friendly face and helping hand, donating their time to helping others find the resources they need. You can be that friendly face by simply starting with, “Hello,” and a smile! Introduce yourself, tell them a little bit about you so they can get to know who they are spending the day with.
Starting a conversation can be easy when you bring up broad questions or statements. For example:
Think about other discussions you’ve had with people you hadn’t met before. Maybe it was a new neighbor, maybe someone joined your team at work, or maybe you ran into someone while you were out and about and made a new friend. What are some ways you got to know them? These strategies could work with your guest too!
Now that you have your connection guide, sign up to volunteer at Project Connect next Thursday and get to talking!
