United Way belongs to our community, so it is essential that we focus on the issues the community tells us are most important. That’s why we led a year-long community-driven process to develop our MC2026 plan for Mighty Change. The bold goals outlined in MC2026 were not created solely by Valley of the Sun United Way; they are building on existing community goals and we will redeploy our energies and realign our resources, leadership and partners to achieve them.
Valley of the Sun United Way remains in solidarity with community members and other organizations calling for systematic change to address racial disparities in our community and across our nation. Over this past year, United Way started by looking inwardly at our own diversity, equity, and inclusion practices with our Board of Directors and staff, and assessed issues of equity and access in partnership with community leaders as a part of our community input process that led to our MC2026 plan for Mighty Change. Addressing issues of equity and access is now woven throughout Valley of the Sun United Way’s MC2026 impact plan, and we are partnering with others in support of a more equitable community.
Valley of the Sun United Way's Board of Directors is comprised of leaders from throughout our community. As members of the Board, these volunteers are charged with the responsibility of assuring the integrity of our organization by overseeing financial, structural and policy decisions that guide the organization, staff and volunteers.
