Thanks to the partnership between Valley of the Sun United Way and College Football Playoff Foundation’s “Extra Yard for Teachers” program, Ms. McNabb’s sixth-grade class at Balsz Elementary School got a big surprise one morning: a $600-check for a field trip to science camp.
The Extra Yard for Teachers initiative supports public school teachers by funding classroom projects, as well as providing professional development and leadership training at the Extra Yard Summit. In addition, the program works to inspire a college-going culture among grade-school students in the host communities of the College Football Playoff National Championship.
