In Maricopa County middle school classrooms, it started as a regular day. The students entered their school, went to their designated classes, and their teachers began their lessons.
Although October 2nd started like any other Monday, this was a day these kids would remember for years to come. As students gathered around the computer, an Arizona Cardinals quarterback, Drew Stanton, appeared on the screen and was talking with students live!
As part of Character Playbook with United Way, the Arizona Cardinals’ Drew Stanton virtually joined schools to have a personal conversation with kids through a question and answer session. Students were able to ask about Drew’s experiences both on and off the field and see how the topics they learn about in Character Playbook have come to life for athletes like Drew.
With Character Playbook, powered by Everfi Inc. and Verizon, children have the opportunity to truly learn and grow social skills around conflict resolution, daily interactions, and feel more confident in themselves. By hearing Drew’s insight, kids gain a greater understanding of why character and positive interactions are important, as well as how to react in tough situations.
