Big things can happen when communities come together to ensure kids succeed in school. Valley of the Sun United Way is proud to partner with Read On Phoenix, who is being recognized as one of 29 Pacesetters in the 2017 Campaign for Grade-Level Reading (GLR). The GLR campaign brings together a variety of partnerships to ensure kids succeed, helping them be prepared for college and life after college.
United Way has worked with Read on Phoenix to create opportunities for children and their families through their collaboration with Thriving Together, The City of Phoenix, Read Better Be Better, Stand for Children Arizona, Association for Supportive Child Care, Readiness Baskets/Abriendo Puertas, Southwest Human Development, First Things First, and Jumpstart, as well as providing School Readiness Kits for the community, parent and caregiver trainings, and the Summer Learning Collaborative at summer programs like Boys & Girls Club or YMCA to maintain and grow kids’ reading skills over the summer.
To be a Pacesetter means Read On Phoenix is working collaboratively to show results in children’s education and literacy and making improvements with local kids’ skills to read at grade level by 3rd grade. This partnership wouldn’t be possible without United Way donors. Thank you for joining the fight to break the cycle of poverty in Maricopa County for every child, family, and neighborhood where they live.
