Vello Tutoring
Sign up to tutor 60-minutes a week
Being a reading tutor is easier than ever with Vello virtual tutoring, there is no experience required! With screen and audio share and a full library of e-books, students are connected to volunteers for 30-minute guided reading sessions. Tutors can volunteer from anywhere they are with internet, you could even read with a student over your lunch break!
Book-in-a-Bag Wrap Up
Wednesday, December 4th

The Book-in-a-Bag creations are almost ready to be delivered to local schools! Volunteers will ensure each Book-in-a-Bag has the parent reading tips, caterpillar bookmark kits, and reading comprehension pages. Children 10 and older may participate if accompanied by an adult.
Operation Uplift: Gardening Day at The Orchard
Saturday, December 7th
9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
The Orchard Community Learning Center (Map)
Spend a nice day at The Orchard helping to clean up and plant! Volunteers will be helping with pruning citrus and desert shade trees, preparing and planting pollinator gardens, organizing the library, and general grounds clean-up.

Read Better Be Better Office (Map)
Read Better Be Better is seeking volunteers with experience entering data into Excel spreadsheets and the ability to type at least 50 wpm, to assist with data preparation for their upcoming semester. This entails taking data from one set of documents and inputting them into a spreadsheet for the Data Coordinator to upload.
Data is expected to be received the week before and after Christmas. Office is open Monday – Friday with flexible volunteer hours. Just need to set up a time! A computer will be provided.
WeekEnd Hunger Backpack Delivery

Valley of the Sun United Way (Map)
Join United Way in delivering WeekEnd Hunger Backpacks to eleven schools that help feed over 700 children each and every weekend of the school year. WeekEnd Hunger Backpacks are provided to children at schools throughout the Valley. Each backpack contains supplemental meals and snacks to ensure a child has food over the weekend and comes back to school Monday, read to learn!
Market at Desert Mission Food Bank

Desert Mission Food Bank (Map)
Desert Mission is a Valley of the Sun United Way partner with a food distribution program that provides monthly food packages for individuals and families in crisis. Volunteers are needed to assist individuals in the market area, helping people get items to their vehicles, and sorting, bagging and possibly assembling snack packs.
