Social and academic pressures are higher for kids now more than ever. That's why Valley of the Sun United Way has partnered with after-school programs like Boys and Girls Club and YMCA for decades to help them provide more services geared toward keeping children in school.
Because of you, staff at the after-school programs are able to help each student on an individual basis offering counseling for kids who may not be getting along with their parents or peers, or are going through other hard times and mentoring to support kids who may be failing classes or looking for help planning their future.
Having the guidance, social emotional skills, and knowledge of their available resources helps students feel supported, confident, and ready to continue their education. We know that no program can provide all this needed support alone. It takes non-profits, after-school programs, staff members, donors, and schools working together to make it happen.
You can be a part of breaking the cycle of poverty when you fight for kids in our community.
