Who are you? How would you describe yourself without using your name or any attributes given to you by society?

I would describe myself as an optimistic realist. I believe in keeping a firm grasp on reality, but recognizing that there is always something to be learned and a positive side for every situation. In order to appreciate the good side, we must acknowledge the bad side. I’m an old soul, a closet nerd, and have interests that vary wider than the Mississippi.

If your life was a novel, what would be the title and how would your story end?

“A Southern Belle Moves West” and the story would end with me living right here, sitting on my porch and drinking some sweet tea with dogs and hopefully grandbabies running around.

If you had the opportunity to get a message across to a large group of people, what would your message be?

My message would be that you never know the battle someone is facing, so be kind. So much can be accomplished by extending understanding and compassion and the world could use more of it.

When was the last time you tried something new? What was it?

A couple weeks ago I went to my first swing dancing venue! I’ve been learning how to West Coast for a while now, and usually just wait for a pop song to come on (You can west coast to anything). But a couple weeks ago we went to a place that was strictly swing, and I absolutely loved it! It’s not my first style of dance, but is quickly becoming a favorite!

What do you want most out of life?

To inspire people to believe the best in each other and embrace their differences.

Have you ever not spoken up when you knew you should have?

Yes! It’s the worst kind of regret when you know what you should say.

If you could instill one piece of advice in a newborn baby’s mind, what advice would you give?

Never give up, this too shall pass.

What motivates you to be your best?

Comparing myself to what I was yesterday, not other people.

What is your favorite sound?

Rain on a rooftop
