The news of the tragedy left in the shadows of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma continues to spread as neighborhoods are left devastated. People across the country are looking for ways to help and reach out to the victims of these storms so their lives can be put back together and their communities rebuilt. If you are looking for a way to provide hurricane relief assistance, these resources are a great start.
September 12 at 5 p.m. MST, musicians and celebrities are coming together on online and televised networks to host the Hand In Hand Telethon with live performances from Los Angeles, New York, and Nashville to raise money for hurricane relief. Some of the guest stars include George Strait, Tyler Perry, Selena Gomez, Beyoncé, Jay Leno, Brad Paisley and many more are listed on the Hand in Hand Telethon website. Tune in to one of the many available channels and donate online to provide your support.
Financial donation is one of the greatest ways to help in case of disasters when given to a reputable charity. It means being able to provide whatever the greatest need is as the needs change. United Ways across the affected areas are accepting donations and United Way Worldwide has set up a fund where 100% of the profits will go to recovery efforts.
While the rebuilding process begins, volunteers will be needed. It’s very important to register or apply to volunteer and wait to be contacted as organizations will have to assess the situation and the specific needs first. United Way and Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) members have volunteer opportunities available. Use the links below to apply.
