Homelessness in Maricopa County is on the rise. Each situation is different and there isn’t just one solution. We partner with emergency shelter and permanent supportive housing partners to offer emergency and long-term housing options.
Project Connect events last year made 10,274 service connections possible. That’s where our story began with Bessie; at the annual “Project Connect” specifically serving veterans, Maricopa County StandDown.
We fight for vets like Bessie who struggled with severe PTSD for years, temporarily ruining her life, causing her to lose her children and have to live on the street. She was in need of multiple services to get back on her feet and we were able to help in various ways as we work toward community goals to:
Thanks to receiving the support she needed, Bessie now gives back to her community and received her VA Certificate of Eligibility.
This is just one part of our fight. Change won't happen alone. We must unite to help even more individuals break the cycle of poverty.
