Poverty is a very real part of everyday life for the 667,000 people in Maricopa County living in it. There are many causes of poverty, so it’s necessary to address it with multiple solutions. At the Inter-Stake Center in Mesa last Thursday, June 21, nearly 40 partners and 300+ volunteers came together to do just that at Project Connect.
Because of this group of people making the decision to fight for kids, families, and the neighborhoods they live in, more than 400 guests were able to make over 2043 service connections in just one day. Of the guests that attended, 22% were families with children and 89% said their situation was improved thanks to attending this event.
How did these volunteers support their community? Simply by being a guest guide for a day! Not sure what that means? Find out here!
For volunteer opportunities, keep an eye on our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for information on our next Project Connect coming up in September.
Thanks to our partners at Mesa AZ Mountain View Stake, Mesa AZ Citrus Heights, Mesa AZ Alta Mesa Stake, Mesa United Way, and Basic Mission for your help at Project Connect.
