Valentine’s Day is a day dedicated to love and caring with many ways to share the love with those around you.
Nearly 1,400 volunteers decided to Love United by showing their care for the community, assisting about 2,100 veterans in the Valley as part of the 2017 Maricopa County StandDown event last week at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Too often, veterans become homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless. StandDown is a way for these military veterans to get the resources they need to get back on their feet.

Drew is the operations and logistics manager at Uber, and he shared “I love to Live United because we have hundreds of veteran Uber driver partners. Together with Uber employees and driver partners, we are excited to move our city forward, and give back to the community that we love and care about so much. As a veteran myself, I had an easier transition than others, so it’s important to give back to the community to those less fortunate than I.”
Veteran volunteer Anthony said, “I love to Live United, because it's about giving back to people. Two years ago, I was living at CASS and moved to the Mana House which is where I heard about StandDown. I went through the process here two years in a row, and now I am living life with a job and a place to stay. I feel like I’ve really changed around, considering I was homeless two years ago on the street. That’s why this year is big, because I am back giving back, as a volunteer. There are a lot of veterans out there, so helping veterans get back on their feet at events like this, is a great start to make change. Someone helped me, and now it's time for me to help someone else and pay it forward.”
