Happy National Volunteer Month! Valley of the Sun United Way is celebrating in a super special way with Operation Uplift! All month long we will be out with volunteers rising up for local communities. Join us at any (or all!) of these events coming up.

Several times a year the Maricopa County leaders in the fight to break the cycle of poverty get together at Valley of the Sun United Way’s Project Connect. At these events, people in our community that are near or experiencing homelessness have access to many resources that can assist with housing, employment, and other services.

The Maricopa Community College District has partnered with Valley of the Sun United Way’s Thriving Together to help Phoenix Union High School District students get ready for college at Maricopa Enrollment Day.

Advocate and journalist Lisa Ling is excited to join our community as the keynote speaker at Women United’s We Are United Luncheon on May 8.

United, 239 volunteers assisted more than 222 guests by connecting them with a total of 803 services from the 29+ providers at Project Connect in just one day.

Ready to gain some exciting, fun, and valuable volunteer experience? Join us at any of these volunteer activities for this month of March!

Great ideas come from collaboration with leaders in neighborhoods, which is why Valley of the Sun United Way is introducing the Operation Uplift Micro-grant Program to maximize the impact this movement can have.
Uniting with co-workers to break the cycle of poverty in the Valley through a short activity is a one-of-a-kind experience. That’s what makes opportunities like Encouragement Cards and assemblies for WeekEnd Hunger Backpacks or School Readiness Kits so special.

Join Valley of the Sun United Way for an Operation Uplift activity celebrating Read Across America Day, Dr. Seuss’s birthday, for a whole week from February 25th to March 1st. Start a reading event of your own at a local school or program!
