To bring the community together, you have to be willing to have a conversation. Sharing stories, experiences, and information is a powerful way to communicate with others. Being able to share multiple sides of these stories and offer new perspectives is even stronger. If storytelling comes naturally to you, and you want to connect with your community, Valley of the Sun United Way is looking for new Speakers United members!
Speakers United is a group of leaders, donors, partners, and volunteers who support and share the mission and work of United Way. Through informational storytelling, members teach and empower individuals, growing leadership and community based skills for speakers as they foster meaningful engagement opportunities for donors and volunteers. We exist to break the cycle of poverty in Maricopa County.
Members of Speakers United will share a little about themselves and their connection to United Way at various events. They choose if they would like to speak to large or small groups and an area of United Way’s work that resonates with them: ensuring kids succeed in school, ending hunger, ending homelessness, or increasing financial stability. Then, they share a story or testimonial about the topic that showcases the impact they have seen United Way make in the community.
