This summer, from May 21 through September 1, we partnered with Lyft and Food City to increase access to fresh produce and healthy foods in low income neighborhoods. Many communities in the Valley are food deserts, meaning grocery stores are more than a mile away.
People who needed transportation to the store were able to use a promo code to receive 12 discounted roundtrip Lyft rides to and from 16 Food City locations in Phoenix, Glendale and Tempe for only $2 each way. The rest was subsidized up to $15.
We are proud to say through this promotion we were able to provide 2,737 rides to the grocery store for individuals and families. The average subsidy per ride was $7.88.
