"There's another sign over there!" Anaise excitedly pointed out to her kindergarten peers as they walked, skipped, told stories, sang songs, called out letters and numbers, and dozens of other activities along the Born Learning Trail.
Presented by Valley of the Sun United Way and the City of Phoenix, this free, interactive trail is designed for parents, grandparents and caregivers to turn everyday moments into teaching opportunities for children ages 0 – 5. The colorful trail winds through Pierce Park with 10 stations featuring a series of fun learning and fitness activities in English and Spanish.
"This is an outstanding opportunity to bring families together," said Darren Moore, one of 30 United Postal Service (UPS) volunteers who installed and introduced the trail to nearly 60 children from Griffith Elementary School. “It addresses fitness, education and family bonding. It’s great for getting families out of their houses and away from the TV.”
