Students missing only a day or two of classes every few weeks are already starting to fall behind in school. Missing just 2 days each month adds up to missing 10% of the entire school year.
One of the first steps to ensuring children succeed is getting them started in the right direction in school. In order to get the education they need, students have to have a good attendance rate. It takes everyone in a community uniting to make this happen.
Every September for Attendance Awareness Month, Attendance Works gives tips and activities for teachers, school staff, healthcare workers, businesses and other organizations in the community to help keep kids engaged in their education.
The information in the 2017 toolkit will help you to promote Attendance Awareness Month however you can.
