Q. What did you want to be when you grew up?

An attorney. I probably watched too many courtroom dramas on TV as a kid. The real practice of law is very different from those TV shows, but I’m happy with my choice just the same.

Q. What is the most valuable lesson you have learned during your professional career?

I’ve learned a lot so far, and I’m sure I have more learning to do, but if I had to pick one lesson as the most valuable, it would be to take time to think and consider all perspectives before I speak.

Q. How has WLC benefited you professionally?

Through my involvement with the WLC, I have met and made meaningful connections with women who work in a variety of fields. I think getting to know them in this setting, knowing that we share a common passion for the work of the WLC, provides a great opportunity to develop strong professional relationships.

Q. What is your favorite quote or motto?

My favorite quote is from the movie Sixteen Candles. When the main character’s sister (who has taken too many muscle relaxers) is walking down the aisle for her wedding, she doesn’t want anyone to help her (even though she clearly needs it). She declares, in a slurred voice, “I got it, I got it, I got it.” I like the quote because it’s a reminder that people who think they have everything under control and don’t need help are sometimes the people who are most in need of assistance.

Q. What three words best describe you?

Passionate, detail-oriented, and fun-loving.

Q. Why do you volunteer and give to United Way?

It’s part of who I am. I was raised with an understanding that being a good member of the community means giving time and resources.

Q. What would your fellow WLC members be most surprised to learn about you?

People are sometimes surprised to hear that I really enjoy playing poker.

Q. What is the best advice you have ever gotten?

The best advice I have ever received came from my husband. He told me that sometimes you just have to trust and have faith in others.
