“One act of faith changed my entire life.” That’s how speaker, auctiontainer, and author Letitia Frye describes her life today. She recently spoke at Valley of the Sun United Way Women’s Leadership Council event and inspired every woman in the room. Letitia shared how her life experiences made her stronger and successful.
Volunteerism mixed in with mingling and networking equaled an amazingly fun night for Generation United millennials! Sitting outside on a beautiful fall night, the group recently gathered at the Ocotillo Grill in Phoenix for Books ‘n Brews.
Giving back! That’s what family philanthropy is all about. Parents bringing their children to Valley of the Sun United Way volunteer events, teaching their children about the impacts of hunger and the fact that some kids go to bed hungry; explaining about homelessness and how some families and kids sleep on sidewalks, benches, couches, or wherever they can find a safe place. Family philanthropy is also about helping those in need with monetary donations.
Oh, what a night it was as members and non-members of Valley of the Sun United Way’s Women Leadership Council (WLC) recently gathered at The Camby Hotel in Phoenix for a Women Unite fall event.
On September 10, United Way is hosting “Unite: Day of Action” where hundreds of volunteers will be uniting at locations around the valley. Bring your family out to assemble WeekEnd Hunger Backpacks, participate in an elementary school cafeteria mural project, plant a fall garden at a community center, spruce up a nurse’s office, plus so much more!
While college football fans packed into Fan Central for all the festivities celebrating tonight’s match-up between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Clemson Tigers, hundreds of Valley teachers attended the Phoenix Extra Yard for Teachers Summit sponsored by the College Football Playoff Foundation and Valley of the Sun United Way.
At Valley of the Sun United Way, our Generation United members enjoy a little friendly competition.
