The Maricopa Community College District has partnered with Valley of the Sun United Way’s Thriving Together to help Phoenix Union High School District students get ready for college at Maricopa Enrollment Day.

United, 239 volunteers assisted more than 222 guests by connecting them with a total of 803 services from the 29+ providers at Project Connect in just one day.

Each year, Maricopa County StandDown gathers volunteers to help hundreds of veterans experiencing or near homelessness in the Valley.

In the spirit of Dr. MLK Jr., feelings of inclusivity, encouragement, giving, caring, assisting, and uniting instead of dividing are important ways to spend this day on, not off, to connect with each other.

Vello volunteers offer students guided reading and online tutoring. Some volunteers and students got to meet their Vello buddy in person and enjoy a pizza party and reading together before the winter break!

“If anyone needs help, they need to come here, because when you come you will be very happy with everything they have here. You leave a happy camper! I will make sure to spread this news everywhere.”

Incorporating learning into your everyday activities while your family is home will help keep your kid’s mind awake and prepared for returning to school in January.

In Roosevelt last Saturday, Operation Uplift continued as people gathered to rise up. Nearly 140 volunteers, including 83 Arizona State University students, assisted with multiple tasks in the area in just one day.

From $2 donations to $250 donations, each and every dollar helps us take big steps for kids, families, and neighborhoods in our community together.
