COVID-19 is affecting many Valley families and individuals. If you need assistance or resources, this is a list of resources available around the Phoenix Metro Area. This list will be updated as new things become available.

Many of these resources are online. If you are in need of internet or increased speed due to more family members being in the home, Cox is increasing access and speeds of low-income internet service Connect2Compete. New Connect2Compete customers will receive their first 60 days of service FREE, which is normally available to qualified low-income households with a K-12 student in the home for $9.95/month.     – Map can be adjusted to show or hide food banks in the East Valley, other food banks, school meals, and grocery stores with early hours for seniors and high-risk population.

    • Arizona PBS – Free resources for easy and accessible at-home learning:
      – Pre-kindergarten to third grade: 5 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. on Arizona PBS, then uninterrupted for the rest of the day on PBS Kids.
      – Fourth to eighth grade: 6:30 a.m. to noon on Arizona PBS.
      – Ninth to twelfth grade: 12:30 p.m. to 4:20 p.m. on Arizona PBS.

  • Headsprout – Headsprout is an online K–5 reading program that adapts to the needs of the individual student. It is self-paced, which makes it ideal for at-home practice. Register for a FREE subscription to Headsprout, valid through the end of the school year.
  • Homework choice boards – Give kids an option of what their assignments are!
  • Make Way for Books – Free children’s books on an app for iPhone and Android.
  • NCFL:
    – 30 Days – Families Learning – 30 days of family activities to promote literacy and learning.
    – Family Trails – Get tips on trail adventures you and your family could go on and plan out a dream adventure.
    – Wonderopolis – Discover what people across the country wonder about and get some answers! Fun and unique questions with interesting facts of the day.
  • Playworks – Experience play, physical activity, social emotional learning, and have fun during this period of unexpected out of school time. Anyone can tune in to Playworks Facebook Live Monday – Friday at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 1:00 p.m. and play along!
  • Raz-Kids – Raz-Kids is a digital resource that provides a library of differentiated books students can use to practice reading wherever they are. Register for a FREE subscription to Raz-Kids valid through the end of the school year.
  • Read On Arizona – Family literacy.
  • Scholastic – Learn at home resources.
  • Stand For Children – Instructional materials, podcasts, educational YouTube channels, and educational activities.
  • Unite For Literacy – Online library.
  • Various online sources – Parents can find a list of sites for virtual field trips, reading and writing, math, screen-free activities, STEAM, and more.

Tax Information

  • Charitable Contribution – The deadline to get in charitable contributions for use on your 2019 taxes has not been extended. These still must be made by April 15, 2020.
  • Tax Day Deadline – The deadline to file your taxes has been extended to July 15, 2020.

  • Arizona Community Foundation Fund – Arizona Community Foundation and Valley of the Sun United Way are also joining forces in a coordinated effort to help nonprofits that are providing support services during the COVID-19 outbreak.
  • Blood Donation – Blood banks are in high need of donations. Find out where you can go to help.
  • Donate Protective Equipment to Health Care Professionals – The Valley’s doctors, nurses and other medical professionals are facing an extreme shortage of PPE (personal protective equipment). Valleywise Health is asking for donations of unopened, boxed and/or sealed PPEs to be dropped off for use in their locations.
  • Mesa United Way Mesa COVID-19 Emergency Assistance Fund – If you live in the Mesa area and wish to donate to their fund, Mesa United Way is raising money for Mesa agencies helping the community during the COVID-19 outbreak.
  • Give an In-Kind Donation – With an in-kind donation (such as cleaning supplies, household items, protective supplies, etc.), you can quickly provide support to areas of the highest need in our community. For information and drop off coordination please contact: Twyla Marcrum.
