Arizona’s Premier Hot Air Balloon Race & Festival Delayed to Friday, April 30, 2021 through Sunday, May 2, 2021
PHOENIX – November 30, 2020 – To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, the 10th annual Arizona Balloon Classic, hosted by Arizona Events Group, is taking precautionary measures and will be delaying its 2021 festival from Friday, January 22, 2021 through Sunday, January 24, 2021 to Friday, April 30, 2021 through Sunday, May 2, 2021.
This socially distanced and outdoor event will feature shows and activities throughout the day and evening for the whole family. The Arizona Balloon Classic will be held at the Goodyear Ballpark (1933 S Ballpark Way, Goodyear, AZ 85338). The schedule of activities includes:
On Saturday, May 1, 2021 and Sunday May 2, 2021 from 7:35 am – 8:35 am, the Arizona dawn sky with brilliant blues, purples, oranges, and reds as the hot-air balloons participate in thrilling “Hare & Hound” races from the grassy fields of the Goodyear Ballpark for a spectacular sight of mass and color. Spectators can walk on the field right next to the balloons and experience the inflation and lift off. Photo taking is invited.
On Friday, April 30, 2021 and Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm come experience a field full of illuminated, tethered, hot air balloons glowing in time to music.
Ticketed and free activities available on Friday, April 30, 2021 from 7:00 am – 9:00 pm, Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 7:00 am – 9:00 pm, and Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 7:00 am – 12:00 pm. An assortment of activities including hot air balloon rides and tethered rides, free inflatable games, stunt bike shows, fireworks (Saturday only), live entertainment, sampling, and more. Retail shopping and commercial exhibits for purchases or browsing.
Our 4th Annual Street Foodfest is truly a culinary experience! Enjoy a variety of beer and wine in our beer gardens, local food truck and festival food favorites, live music stage, and more! The Street Foodfest takes place Friday, April 30, 2021 from 7:00 am – 9:00 pm, Saturday, May 1, 2021 from 7:00 am – 9:00 pm, and Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 7:00 am – 12:00 pm.
A new outdoor exhibit has been added, the Desert Wind Kite Festival! My Wind Stuff and Premier Kites & Designs will be featuring huge show kites, candy canons, paper rocket making and launching, and parachute ground racing. Kites for all ages and abilities will be on hand for sale including single line, dual line sport kites & quad line stunt kites. Kite show times will be based on weather conditions.
One day admission for Friday, Saturday, or Sunday is $25 at the gate. It is recommended that tickets are purchased online at www.abcfest.com as some of the more popular events do sell out. Ticket sales will begin online starting Dec 12, 2021. Tickets purchased online are $20 for any one-day admission.
Active Military and Children 12 & under are always FREE. Group ticket packages available. General parking is available for $5 at the ballpark.
Each year, Arizona Balloon Classic donates a portion of beverage and ticket sales to a local non-profit. This year’s partner is Valley of the Sun United Way. The three-day event in 2020 raised over $7,500 for the local organization. Valley of the Sun United Way’s mission is to break the cycle of poverty for Valley families. “We fight to end hunger in the classroom, to end homelessness, and to put a stop to financial instability.” Join the fight.
