Women United

When women UNITE, our community is stronger. Join the Women United movement!

No one understood the power of women to effect change better than Frances Wisebart Jacobs, founder of the nation’s first United Way 125 years ago. That philanthropic spirit is alive and well right here in Maricopa County, thanks to Valley of the Sun United Way’s Women United.

Mission: Inspiring and connecting philanthropic Women to equip our community for success.
Focus: Preparing every child for success.

As a valued member of Women United, you'll:

  • CONNECT with like-minded women and expand personal and professional opportunities in fun and inspiring ways
  • ENGAGE in volunteer events geared toward United Way’s work in breaking the cycle of poverty
  • SERVE as an Ambassador for United Way in a variety of ways
  • GIVE $1,000 annually toward breaking the cycle of poverty for kids, their families, and the neighborhoods where they live

Members give an annual gift of $1,000 designated to one of Valley of the Sun United Way's community objectives. The Working Poor Tax Credit* or the Step Up Program, which is a $500 gift in year one, $750 in year two and $1,000 in year three are also options for participation with membership engagement on day one.

* Direct up to $800 to United Way’s Helping the Working Poor Fund. HWP Fund contributions may qualify for the Credit for Contributions to Qualifying Charitable Organizations. Taxpayers filing as “single” and “head of household” status may claim a maximum credit of $400; taxpayers filing as “married filing separate” may claim a maximum credit of $400; taxpayers that file as “married filing joint” may claim a maximum credit of $800.
