In honor of National Volunteer Month and our Operation Uplift movement, Valley of the Sun United Way recently announced the Operation Uplift Micro-grant opportunity. With this grant schools, churches, and 501(c)3 organizations are able to apply for assistance with tools, materials, or financial needs to complete a project to improve a piece of the community.
Arizona Sustainability Alliance and Arizona Housing Inc. were each awarded a grant this month, making an amazing impact at a local park and a supportive housing apartment complex.
With their grant award, Arizona Sustainability Alliance cleaned up Indian Bend Wash park, walking away with 5 bags worth of garbage no longer littering the beautiful area. These amazing volunteers also pulled invasive plants and tidied the vegetation.
Through their “Just Serve” group, Arizona Housing Inc. had 10 volunteers paint the community room in a supportive housing program apartment complex. These apartments are home for nearly 150 adults and kids who now have a community space to gather as friends and neighbors, building connections with each other.
Thanks to amazing groups like this, our community continues to Rise Up. If you have a volunteer group in need of assistance for your project, there’s still time to apply for your own Operation Uplift Micro-grant! Take a look at our guidelines here to see if you qualify and apply below.
