Like the 1,200 other United Ways in the country, Valley of the Sun United Way operates independently of United Way of America (UWA). We're an autonomous 501(c)(3) organization that is governed by a local all-volunteer Board of Directors. Additionally, a volunteer committee of financial experts from the community meets year-round, monitoring the organization’s financial position.
The organization is committed to maintaining the most effective financial control practices available to ensure that any type of financial impropriety is prevented or quickly identified and appropriately addressed.
Valley of the Sun United Way is an active member of the Better Business Bureau and a past recipient of its Ethics Award, which recognizes businesses for maintaining high ethical standards and accountability in their business practices.
The Board of Directors and management of Valley of the Sun United Way are committed to upholding the highest standards of ethics and conduct and promoting a culture of compliance and ethics throughout the organization.
Each year, Valley of the Sun United Way is audited by a national, independent accounting firm and has consistently received an unqualified opinion letter. We post our Form 990 plus audited financial statements, below, for public review.
