The perfect opportunity to build project management, public speaking, and other organizational skills while also giving back to the community is the Loaned Executive (LE) Program with Valley of the Sun United Way.

The Arizona legislature adjourned last week following a long discussion on the state budget. We are happy to share that the budget they passed includes a Charitable Tax Deduction that we believe will benefit everyone, including taxpayers, community members, and nonprofit organizations.

United Way’s Youth Engagement Program, presented by the Walmart Foundation, brought funding to students for projects like hydration stations, mindfulness rooms, a VR mobile learning lab, and more!

Starting May 21, qualifying families can enjoy a $2 ride, each way, to/from sixteen Food City locations. This provides a solution for families with limited access to transportation and healthy food.

At Valley of the Sun United Way we are proud to partner with programs like Community Bridges from Arizona Housing, Inc. (AHI), not just during mental health awareness month in May but year round, to provide a solution.

In a room full of daisies in the desert, some of the Valley’s most generous women and men stayed true to the name of the We Are United Luncheon by standing together to grow a solution to end childhood hunger.

You did it! It was incredible to see all the 540 volunteers who were a HUGE part of breaking the cycle of poverty in Maricopa County with Operation Uplift.

In partnership with the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits, we are asking the state legislature to restore state funding to have 24/7 access to 2-1-1.

“It is extremely difficult to put into words how much my time here at Valley of the Sun United Way has impacted my life.”

With an Operation Uplift Micro-grant, schools, churches, and 501(c)3 organizations are able to apply for assistance with tools, materials, or financial needs to complete a project to improve a piece of the community.
