Spring cleaning time is here! This is a popular time to clean out your closet and refresh your wardrobe for warmer weather. Getting organized can help you feel less stressed and more productive, but it can also help others in our community.
Nonprofits across the valley collect gently used clothing to give to people in need. Have a dress that just doesn’t fit the way it used to? It could be the perfect outfit to help someone else nail their job interview.
Valley of the Sun United Way partners with several amazing nonprofits in need of clothing. Consider donating to these great organizations:
Dress for Success – This is the perfect place to take professional clothing, business dresses and shoes you no longer wear. Dress for Success will donate them to women who need business wear for job interviews.
Save the Family – This organization helps families experiencing homelessness. You can donate your items at their Mesa donation center.
Society of St. Vincent de Paul – This nonprofit runs multiple thrift stores in the valley. You can drop of your clothing or household items at any location.
Maggie’s Place – Maggie’s Place helps pregnant women and mothers experiencing homelessness. The clothes will either be donated directly to the women or sent to their thrift store in Phoenix. You can drop both clothing and household items off at that location.
UMOM New Day Center – UMOM offers services and emergency housing for people experiencing homelessness. Clothing and household donations can be dropped off at the center.
Big Brother Big Sister Foundation – This organization pairs opportunity youth with adult mentors in our community. All clothing donations will go to the foundation’s resale stores.
Please be sure to check what donations each organization is currently accepting. The list can vary depending on season and current needs.
