An ally is someone who supports and encourages the people around them. That can look like:
Listen to other’s stories about their personal experience. Podcasts are a great place to start!
You can also research LGBTQ+ history and learn about the barriers the community still face today, including workplace discrimination. There are many resources online that can help you.

Understand the privilege that comes with being cis-gendered or straight. This privilege doesn’t mean you haven’t faced your own struggles. It just means that you won’t face the same issues or prejudices because of the way you were born. It can be difficult to understand discrimination if you don’t experience it. Knowing about your own privilege will help you be a better ally.
The National Juvenile Defender Center (NJDC) put together an article on privilege. Find examples to help you better understand privilege.
Using correct pronouns and names shows others you respect their gender-identity. If you are unsure of someone’s pronoun, just ask! Asking is always better than assuming.
It's possible that you'll make mistakes and that's okay. The important thing is that you are learning and you care to fix your mistake. If you find yourself in a situation where you misgender someone, apologize and use the correct pronouns moving forward.
Using gender-neutral words in everyday conversations can help. The Diversity Center put together a guide for using inclusive language. Check out the guide.
