Valley of the Sun United Way’s signature event, We Are United, makes a big return live and in-person! After postponing the event due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we were so thrilled to be able to gather with our community at Corona Ranch. We chose Corona Ranch as the location because of its deep roots in Hispanic culture and heritage. Valley of the Sun United Way continues to work closely with the communities we serve to deeply understand specific and unique needs of the residents.
This May, local nonprofit, corporate, school, community, and philanthropic partners came together to learn about the issues our community are facing and to discuss how we can move forward. President and CEO of Valley of the Sun United Way, Carla Vargas Jasa, spoke to the crowd about our initiatives within MC2026 -- housing & homelessness, health, education and workforce development.
“Together, let us strengthen our commitment to serve and engage with community, that values all of its members, and provide help for those who do not know where to turn.”
– Carla Vargas Jasa, President & CEO, Valley of the Sun United Way
Angela Williams, President and CEO of United Way Worldwide, joined us as our keynote speaker. Angela joined United Way in 2021, becoming the first woman and first African American president and CEO of the organization. This was her first visit to a local United Way Chapter and we were so honored to have her.
We cannot create Mighty Change alone. It takes YOU – our volunteers, partners, and corporate donors – to make a difference.
“It takes a community to make the kind of Mighty Change we’re creating and a meaningful and lasting difference in the communities we serve.”
– Carla Vargas Jasa, President & CEO, Valley of the Sun United Way
