Target Foundation supports United Way’s School Readiness Kits (SRKs) program.

Target Foundation has a strong legacy of giving and, over the past three years, has donated a total of $90,000 to United Way’s School Readiness Kits (SRKs) program.

United Way’s SRKs are designed by education experts to give parents and caregivers the tools they need to prepare children ages 3 to 5 for Kindergarten. With more than 80 reading and math activities in English and Spanish, children can hit the ground running for a successful first day of school.

Target has provided support for the distribution of SRKs at Kindergarten Roundups in Phoenix’s Balsz Elementary School District, Chandler Elementary School District, and the Avondale Elementary School District. Kindergarten Roundups give parents the opportunity to register their children in Kindergarten, and for families to go on a guided tour of the school, so both parent and child will feel comfortable with the learning environment. Providing SRKs at Kindergarten Roundups help parents better prepare their children for school entry. Target employees also serve as volunteers to help with the assembly and distribution of SRKs.

A Legacy of Giving
Since 1946 Target has given 5 percent of its profit – which today equals more than $4 million a week – to local communities. Target’s more than 1,700 stores carry on this tradition by making local grants and providing volunteer hours.

A strong partnership with United Way continues and Target shared, “We are proud to partner with organizations like yours to meet the needs of our communities. Whether it’s inspiring young minds, offering unique cultural experiences or meeting your community’s most basic need; we thank you for your continued commitment to making a difference.”

United Way is very fortunate to have strong partners like Target. The ongoing relationship plays an important role in creating a strong foundation for learning, which helps children succeed in school and in life.

Thank you to Target for supporting children throughout our community!
