VELLO Virtual Tutoring
Sign up by Monday, September 9th
30 minutes/ week during the school day
Serve as virtual reading tutors for high-need elementary schools in Maricopa County with Vello! No previous tutoring or teaching experience is required! Volunteers will provide 1:1 tutoring for 30 minutes each week to 1st – 3rd grade students with the ability to tutor from anywhere with an Internet connection. Office, home, smart phone, laptop, or PC, Vello makes the process easy and efficient with an online portal to facilitate training, tutor coaching, scheduling, and virtual connections through a web meeting software called, Zoom.

Desert Mission is a Valley of the Sun United Way partner with a food distribution program that provides monthly food packages for individuals and families in crisis. Volunteers are needed to assist individuals in the market area, helping people get items to their vehicles, and sorting, bagging and possibly assembling snack packs.
WeekEnd Hunger Backpack Assembly
Saturday, September 14th

WeekEnd Hunger Backpacks provide meals and snacks to children who rely on schools for two of their three daily meals Monday-Friday to ensure children will have meals throughout the weekend, returning to school on Monday morning ready to learn. Volunteers fill plastic store bags with non-perishable meal items and snacks to be distributed weekly to local Phoenix schools.

School Beautification

V.H. Lassen Elementary School (Map)
Come together at V. H. Lassen Elementary in the Roosevelt School District to spend a day making a difference! Volunteers will be help create recovery rooms on campus for when a scholar needs a breather, revitalization of the teachers’ lounge, campus beautification, and additional projects onsite.
