Are you ready for candy, costumes, scares, and fun? Halloween is just around the corner (and so are the goblins and ghosts)! If you’re celebrating with a party, why not make it a Party With a Purpose?
As you’re taking in the new fall weather, the excitement over everything pumpkin, and challenging your friends to show off their creativity with a costume party this Halloween, you all have the chance to unite against something very real, and very frightening happening in our own community, the cycle of poverty.
To have a Party With a Purpose, you simply set up your party page at vsuw.org/myparty and share your special party link with your friends when you invite them. They can make a donation toward joining the fight to break the cycle of poverty instead of bringing the usual food or drink.
For a fun Halloween activity, grab a bunch of toilet paper or paper towel rolls, simple craft supplies, and small treats like Tootsie Rolls to have a “Make Your Own Monster” or “Create a Treat Bat” station following the instructions on this flyer on our At-Home Activities page. You can then donate these monsters or bats to Valley of the Sun United Way to include in WeekEnd Hunger Backpacks as an extra holiday treat for local kids.
Other at-home activities can be done all year long, just pick the ones you like to begin.
