Hungry for Change: Community Advocate
WHO: Paige, mom to three little ones (all under the age of five!)
MOTTO: Live every day to build the life you love.
WHY I SUPPORT BREAKFAST IN THE CLASSROOM: Breakfast in the Classroom is doing the important work of helping children get a healthy start to their day by providing an alternative to the traditional cafeteria before school breakfast model. I think it is so inspiring that United Way took the larger issue of hunger insecurity in our community and were able to reach a segment of the community that needs it the most: our children.
YOU KNOW ME: As a mother, I can't imagine what it might feel like to not be able to feed my children the healthiest foods possible, but many in our community struggle with feeding their children at all. As my oldest is about to enter kindergarten this year, I can't wait for him to find his own place in the community at his new school. Breakfast in the Classroom helps build community among youth who might not otherwise learn that skill by bringing them together with their peers at the table. Such a simple reminder that we are all in this together.
My Challenge to You: Learn More
