After bouncing from shelter to shelter, Hannah found the services she needed to break the cycle of poverty, services supported by Valley of the Sun United Way. She was finally able to climb from the depths of chronic homelessness.

Ms. Crawford is a great teacher, and she wants great things from her students. But the students she teaches at Brunson-Lee Elementary School in the Balsz School District have their challenges. Many live in poverty, and many of their families struggle to put food on the table.

After losing the male role models in his home when he was young, the 19-year-old said he had no sense of direction. But despite a challenging home life and an ongoing health condition, he didn’t lose his dedication.
