Valley of the Sun United Way announced today that seven nonprofit organizations received a total of $120,000 in grant funding to advance Fair Chance programs and initiatives for justice-impacted individuals.

Amanda was a single mother struggling to raise her three young children after the death of their father. As a dental assistant earning $45,000 annually, she knew she needed to upskill to earn a livable wage for her single-income family of four. With the help of Arizona Career Pathways, she enrolled in Phoenix College’s Dental Hygiene program.

The collaborative was catalyzed by a $500,000 investment from the JPMorgan Chase Foundation.

The new Collaborative will build off existing efforts and explore comprehensive and interconnected Fair Chance approaches.

Workers in the younger generation are being more selective when it comes to finding a job. They are looking for companies with great employee culture, diversity and growth opportunities. A great and cost-effective way to hit these marks is to offer mentorship programs.
