This month we have seen some of the best volunteers helping us out with Operation Uplift. To thank these volunteers and celebrate their accomplishments, we have partnered with the Local First World Bazaar PHX!
With an Operation Uplift Micro-grant, schools, churches, and 501(c)3 organizations are able to apply for assistance with tools, materials, or financial needs to complete a project to improve a piece of the community.
Kids Fest, which was held at Friendship Park in Avondale last weekend on April 6th, was an amazing opportunity for volunteers to come together and create a Book-In-A-Bag for each child. Our Book-In-A-Bag Project makes literacy fun for kids.
Apply for up to $1,000 to take the Wise Choices: Healthy Eating and Healthy Finances course and increase budgeting and nutritional education in your community.
Interview Fair Helps Metro Tech Students Prepare for Their Futures
Last weekend, 42 volunteers gathered at Metro Tech High School for another exciting interview fair. More than 200 students participated and learned valuable tips and advice on how to be the best interviewee they can be.
As part of our fight for kids, we have partnered with Murphy schools to bring innovation back to the space. On March 27, we distributed 100 laptops to the district, donated by University of Phoenix, for students to use.
Operation Uplift partnered with the Arizona-Cactus-Pine Girl Scouts and our friends from the Tiger Mountain Foundation to celebrate Women’s History Month by tidying up the Garden of Tomorrow, located in South Phoenix.
Happy National Volunteer Month! Valley of the Sun United Way is celebrating in a super special way with Operation Uplift! All month long we will be out with volunteers rising up for local communities. Join us at any (or all!) of these events coming up.
Several times a year the Maricopa County leaders in the fight to break the cycle of poverty get together at Valley of the Sun United Way’s Project Connect. At these events, people in our community that are near or experiencing homelessness have access to many resources that can assist with housing, employment, and other services.
