In Maricopa County 1 in 4 children experiences hunger, unsure of where their next meal is coming from. That’s why Valley of the Sun United Way fights to end hunger and ensure kids succeed in school.
Together, we are helping children learn how to keep their body AND mind exercised, breaking the cycle of poverty through quality education for all kids in our community. We can’t do it alone. To live better, we must live united.
Valley of the Sun United Way partners with The Siemer Institute for Family Stability to improve long-term housing, preventing unplanned moves out of a child’s home school, and increase economic stability for families at-risk of homelessness.
The Return of Gus the Bus – Cartwright Elementary School Garden Opening
Earlier this year, people got together at Cartwright Elementary School to help rebuild a community garden after the children’s mobile garden, Gus the Bus, was burned down. After a little more work and a lot of love, Gus is back.
